Brothers Rugby Sunshine Coast is proud to announce our 2026 Women’s A Grade Coaching Team, a group of exceptional leaders bringing elite experience, passion and a shared commitment to growing women’s rugby on the Sunshine Coast.

Leading the program is David Mathias, a Level 3 Coach and Rugby Educator with extensive experience across all levels of the game, from Premier Rugby, GPS, local junior and senior programs to Australian Indigenous, Stingrays, South Queensland and Country representative teams. David is renowned for his work in player development, front-row coaching and pathway programs that prepare athletes for higher honours. A true technician of the game, set piece is one of Dave’s great passions and one of the best you’ll ever work with.

Joining David are two outstanding assistant coaches:

 Tui Ormsby – a Rugby Australia Hall of Fame inductee and one of Australia’s most respected female players. A former Wallaroo with an incredible career spanning four Rugby World Cups (1998, 2002, 2010 & 2014), Tui represented both WA and NSW, playing for Nedlands, West Harbour, Warringah and University (Sydney). Her leadership, humility, and depth of international experience bring world-class insight to the Brothers program.

 Alex Bannon – a former elite player turned coach with a wealth of high-performance experience. Alex’s career includes time with the QLD Reds, Western Force, San Diego Surfers (Premier League), London Wasps, and selection in the Wallaroos squad (2016–2019). Passionate about player growth, Alex combines technical excellence with genuine care for developing women in rugby.

Together, David, Tui, and Alex form a coaching team built on values, experience, and connection ready to inspire the next generation of Brothers women.
