A new chapter begins for Brothers Rugby Sunshine Coast as we proudly announce our A Grade coaching team for Season 2026.
Leading the way will be Ryan Frisby, taking the reins as Head Coach. Ryan officially began his coaching career in 2014 and brings a wealth of experience across club and representative rugby, from U16s and Reserve Grade to five seasons with the Stingray Colts, SQ Colts, and QC U16s. Most recently, Ryan has been part of A Grade programs here on the Sunshine Coast while serving as Head Coach for both the Sunshine Coast Men’s and South Queensland Men’s representative sides.

“My vision is to build on the strong culture that Darren and his team have established over the past three years, creating an environment where players can develop their skills, character, and love for the game. What drew me most to Brothers is its identity as a true family club, a place where players, families, and supporters come together to share their passion for rugby and for each other.”

Joining him as Assistant Coach is Shane Buckley, a long-serving member of the Brothers family whose coaching philosophy centres on values, character, and growth both on and off the field. Shane brings more than a decade of coaching experience across schools and senior rugby, with four premierships to his name, Level 2 accreditation, and a deep personal connection to the club as a parent, coach, sponsor, and volunteer.
Shane’s approach focuses on discipline, teamwork, and continual learning ensuring every player understands their role and expectations. He’s committed to developing leadership, standards, and culture throughout the playing group.

“My goal is to help each player improve every week, to uphold the Brothers standards, and to build a program the whole club can be proud of.”

Together, Ryan Frisby & Shane Buckley represent the next evolution of Brothers Rugby – combining experience, passion, and family values to guide our Senior Program next season and as we continue to build and develop in the years to come.

Brothers Rugby Sunshine Coast is proud to announce our 2026 Reserve Grade Coaching Team, two passionate leaders continuing to strengthen the backbone of our senior men’s program.

Leading the side this season is Tim Burgess, stepping into the Head Coach role with a wealth of experience, professionalism and commitment to player development. Tim brings a composed, values-driven approach that perfectly reflects the Brothers culture where teamwork, growth, and connection come first.

Supporting him is James Hawkey, returning as Assistant Coach & Strength and Conditioning Lead. A respected figure within the playing group, James combines his technical coaching ability with a deep understanding of fitness, performance, and team culture.

Together, Tim and James will guide our Reserve Grade squad through SZN’26, developing players, driving standards, and ensuring every member of the group takes pride in wearing the Butcher Stripe
