Darryl has the enviable task of coaching the next Brothers stars, the Under 8s. Luckily for us, Darryl comes with a wealth of experience in both playing and coaching rugby, and our U8 team is certainly shining bright thanks to him.
What’s your rugby background?
I started when I was six, and played through until I was 38. So obviously I love rugby. I’ve been a part of Caloundra Lighthouse for 15 years, but Jax wants to play for Brothers, so I’m involved at Brothers now and I actually really love it. I also coach reserve grade at Caloundra as my son George plays in the reserve grade team.
When did you get involved with Brothers?
2021
What do you love about your team?
Seeing the U6’s start developing basic skills to play and the enjoyment they have every Saturday morning. Priceless!
What do you like about our club?
Just a really good bunch of people. They have been very friendly and very welcoming.
When you’re not coaching rugby what do you get up to?
I’m pretty busy with my business, DSE Civil Electrical based here at Warana. Outside of work, it’s family and rugby.
Which team do you support?
The Auckland Blues and the All Blacks.
Favourite Dessert?
Sticky date pudding.
Thanks for all your time and effort you put into Brothers every week Darryl, we really appreciate it!
