CHILD SAFETY AND WELLBEING
Under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Queensland), organisations that provide services or spaces for children under 18 must implement Queensland’s 10 Child Safe Standards. Sporting clubs and associations must begin compliance by 1 April 2026.
Brothers Rugby Club Sunshine Coast (The Club), to comply with the above requirement, is implementing the following
- The club management committee has formally endorsed the Rugby Australia Child and Young Persons Safeguarding Policy and the QRU Child Safety and Wellbeing Commitment Statement.

- The club has appointed two volunteer Child Safety Officers who can be contacted to raise any concerns as it relates to Child and Young Person safety.

- The club is enforcing Blue Card requirements of “No Card, No Link, No Start” for all coaches, managers, volunteers and committee members across the club.
- The club website has a new page under “> Home > About > Child Safety” with information / links to Child Safety regulations, policies, contacts, protocols and reporting. This website will be updated as required.
- The club Stack Team app has Child Safety documents & links in the Documents section. This document section will be updated as required
- Posters will be present at the club detailing Child Safety Commitment Statement, Child Safety Contacts, Rights in Rugby and Zero Tolerance for Racism.
- The Safe Environments in Rugby Protocols are expected to be followed as they relate to change room usage, travel and transport, tours & overnight stays, digital communications & photography and Photography, Video & Social Media. Protocol documents are available on the website and Stack Team app documents section.
